Masterton – Queen Elizabeth Park

Dog friendly walk – Queen Elizabeth Park is an 81 hectare park located in the heart of Masterton and is one of the best family parks in New Zealand. You can feed the ducks, walk over the swing bridge to visit the deer, have a round of mini golf or ride on the classic miniature train.

Masterton – Millennium Native Forest Reserve

Dog friendly walk – Looking for shade on a hot day in Masterton. It’s a beautiful 5 hectare suburban oasis. Wander through well-maintained walking paths that weave through dense native bush, offering breathtaking views and moments of serenity. The Reserve is home to an array of native wildlife, including birds, insects and plants. Keep your eyes peeled for tūī, kererū and even the elusive ruru. You may also be able to spot a gecko, skink, long and short finned eels, koura, dragon flies, weta and many other interesting residents.

Gladstone – Carter Scenic Reserve

Dog friendly walk located 16.4km south of Masterton. There is a 500 meter driveway leading to a dedicated car park. It’s a lovely stop for a gentle nature stroll, birdlife, and a dose of Wairarapa greenery.

The reserve sits off Gladstone Road, with easy access and a loop-style track through regenerating native bush
